Henrietta Jenkins to Run for Indiana House Seat
Nearly two months ago, State Representative Gail Riecken announced on our air she will not seek re-election for Indiana's 77th District.As Eyewitness News reported back in November, local Reverend Billy Garrett filed paperwork to run for that seat. Garrett has tried to run for political office in the past, but he will have some competition.Henrietta Jenkins, former Independent Evansville City Council candidate, plans to run on the Republican ballot for House District 77. Jenkins lost to Democrat Connie Robinson for the city council race.We're told she will make her intentions official on Tuesday. If elected, Jenkins would be the first black female GOP representative to hold that seat.
